Common Facilities

We have superfast broadband in Georgeham and the WiFi covers most areas.

There is a shed to store surf boards and bicycles and an area to wash and hang wet suits etc.

We have plenty of DVD's, local maps, games, books and puzzles for the longer winter evenings, not to mention two excellent and very friendly pubs with great food within easy walking distance.

Our Location

We are located in the centre of the delightful village of Georgeham in the very heart of North Devon's Gold Coast very close to both Croyde and Putsborough beaches. Nestling just above and a short distance from this world famous surfing resort, Georgeham benefits from being close enough to experience the bustling Croyde life, but far enough away for you to enjoy a tranquil break.

Whether you want to enjoy the beaches of Croyde, Putsborough or Woolacombe, walk the South West coastal Path, cycle, visit Exmoor or simply enjoy the surrounding stunning countryside, The Old Bakery is your perfect base at any time of the year. And you'll have much of it to yourself if you come out of season!

To whet your appetite, check out David's photography web site Georgeham Photography with many images of Georgeham and North Devon.

We have fallen in love.
Our first visit to North Devon and we have fallen in love from heady, blustery coastal paths of Baggy Point and Morthoe; exhilIrating surf (reminders of youth on Oz); serene, leafy Chapel Woods; cycling the estuary of Tarka Trail to delightful Ilfracombe and Braunton Burrows - a unique reserve. Loved it all! Your cosy Garden Room is a haven of peace and we hope we can visit again in different times - less covid strange. We have felt truly "safe" here and have received a warm welcome at both pubs from locals and the lovely village store. Some people one meets briefly but they leave a mark. Thank you for providing a home from home. We'll also remember fondly beautiful Bobby's friendliness at breakfast! Best wishes, C and M.

What a clean (covid) safe cottage
What a clean (covid) safe cottage. As soon as we walked in we knew it had been cleaned and disinfected to a covid safe standard. This little piece of heaven had everything we needed for a wonderful week away. We will be recommending this to all we know. Thank you. PS Bobby is gorgeous.

We have loved every minute of our stay. Thank you so much! The cottage was lovely and equipped with everything we needed for our week stay. Definitely recommend a visit to Lynton and Lynmouth. Beautiful. Crabbing at Appledore was fun. Also enjoyed surfing lesson at Croyde Beach. Really hope to come back to North Devon some day. Thank you again for all you did for us - we will miss Bobby!

Full of memories
Thank you for letting us stay in your cosy, beautiful Garden Room - everything was perfect! David and Pippa were lovely hosts and made us feel so welcome. I loved saying "morning" to "the girls" (our chickens!)and of course our visits from the friendliest dog Bobby. We have walked miles around Exmoor, enjoyed all the local food - one of the highlights was the homemade truffles for dessert at The Rock. Miles' Fish and Chips (our mobile takeaway) were very tasty. We aslo enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Croyde. But so happy that we decided to stay in this quaint and peaceful village of Georgeham! We will leave refreshed, relaxed and full of memories. We will be back! Thank you!

Everything was fabulous
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Everything was fabulous. This place is a little gem and we cannot wait to tell our friends about it. The place is an ideal base to explore the North Devon coast and we got as far as Clovelly after all the local hotspots. The people are very friendly especially the staff at the exceptional Kings Arms. We would love to stay longer but will look forward to returning some time in the near future.

The perfect Base
We had a lovely week in The Garden Room cottage which has been the perfect base for exploring the wonders of North Devon. The cottage is suitably equipped and the garden is a delight. David, Pippa and Bobby (their dog!) made us feel very welcome and provided very useful information about local walks and places to visit. This is a place that will stay long in our memories. Many thanks.

Now we have discovered The Garden Room
I first fell in love with this are in 1962 ...camping with a church youth group. Soon after we married I introduced Gordon (my husband) to North Devon and we have been coming here ever since. There were years when we played on the beach and swam in the sea at Woolacombe with the children and then it went back to just being two of us again. Now we have discovered The Garden Room and have enjoyed a very comfortable and peaceful week. Once more we have been on our favourite walks and visited the lovely beaches. We have also driven to Watersmeet, Tarr Steps and Dunster Castle, as well as Clovelly and Hartland Quay in the opposite direction. This year we have also discovered Castle Hill (Gardens) for the first time. Thank you David and Pippa for providing such a wonderful place to stay.

A very Peaceful Stay in The Garden Room
David and Pippa made us feel very welcome from the start. They have gone over and above by putting together folders with useful, information which we took advantage of. A very peaceful place to stay; having been to the area before this was definitely our favourite stay. Would really recommend having a cream tea on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday in summer. They are amazing and support a very special charity!! We are looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for a lovely stay. See you soon x

A, E and S, Cheshire. Sept. 2014.

Peaceful and Tranquil
Such a peaceful and tranquil home, so beautifully kept. I have loved my week here. Our room was so comfortable - very specious especially when my mobility is poor at night. The accessible shower and seat made a huge difference - it can be so difficult going away when you have extra needs and having had a suspected broken elbow from a has been great to be in an environment where I haven't struggled anywhere near as much as I would normally if I were away. I think the only thing that was slightly tricky was the 1st doorstep as it is quite high. Loved the breakfasts. Loved being made to feel at ease and cared for by you David and Pippa. This is an absolute gem of a place and one I hope we can come back to. Thank you.
K and B, Hants, August 2014.
